Tarpan

The Tarpan is mouse dun or grulla in color. This means that the body is a smoky gray color, with the face and legs being darker than the body. The mane and tail are flaxen, but dark in the center where the dorsal stripe passes through. They stand between 13 and 13.2 hands tall. The mane is semi-erect. The head is large, with massive jaws and thick neck. The back is short and strong, with very low withers. The hooves are dark and very tough, never requiring shoes.

Tennessee Walking Horse

TWHs range in size from 15 to 17 hands, weigh approximately 1000 pounds, and come in a variety of colors. The head is large, with pointed ears, a straight profile, large, gentle eyes and flared nostrils. The neck is muscular and arched and fairly broad at the base.

Tersk

The size of Tersk horses varies between 15 and 16 hands and there are different types within the breed. There is a lighter, rangier Eastern type and the more substantial Massive type that usually has an infusion of Trakener blood. The predominant colour is grey, usually with a metallic silvery sheen to it, but bays, chestnuts and blacks do also occur. Tersks are successful in eventing and dressage, are excellent showjumpers, as well as making top class endurance horses due to their great stamina.

Thoroughbred

Most Thoroughbreds are 15 to 16.2 hands and weigh 900 to 1200 lbs. Everything about them is long: long, smooth muscles, long forearms, long, sloping shoulders, long loins, long legs. The colors are bay, brown and chestnut, black, and some roans and greys. They are the greyhounds of the horse world and should look athletic. Thoroughbred heads are clean cut and fine boned, with thin skin. The eyes are big and alert; nostrils are large. The neck is long and graceful; withers are well-defined; shoulders are long and sloping; the chest is narrow and muscular. The girth is extremely deep. The body is long but the loins and hind quarters must be strong. The hind legs are long from the hip to the hock. The hooves often have thin walls that chip and crack easily.

Trakehner

The Trakehner of today is a large horse, standing generally between 16 and 17 hands. The breed is characterized by great substance and bone, yet displays surprising refinement, perhaps more so than any other European warmblood breed. It is a superb performance horse with natural elegance and balance. It excels in dressage because of its elegant way of moving - the light, springy, "floating trot," and soft, balanced canter, made possible by a deep sloping shoulder and a correct, moderately long back and pasterns. With its characteristic, powerful hindquarters and strong joints and muscles, the breed also produces outstanding jumpers. However, perhaps the most outstanding attribute of the Trakehner is its temperament. It is keen, alert and intelligent, yet very stable and accepting and anxious to please.
